The Federal Government has been called upon yet again to help especially as it affects the movie industry, Nollywood.

The plea comes on the heels of how much damage pirates have caused investors and stakeholders in the movie industry from their actions.

Pastor Joshua Iginla of the Champions Royal Assembly, Kubwa, Abuja who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at a service on Sunday, September, 6, explained the need for a speedy interference of the government on the matter, saying:
Our Nollywood actors and actresses are doing a lot for this country but they have no help when they are in difficulty or in need.
“We celebrate our Nollywood but we do not know what they go through. People thought they have achieved a lot but they have nothing to show because of piracy.”

Iginla lamented the loss of potentials to pirates in a Nigerian industry that is the third largest in the world behind Bollywood and Hollywood, and should be more profitable than it currently is.
”Nigeria is the third largest producer of films in the world and Nigeria’s image is being positively projected abroad by Nollywood artistes.
“I plead with the Federal Government to do something urgently about our great heroes in the Nollywood,” he said.
The clergyman maintained that the movie players have gone a long way in uplifting the nation’s image and so deserve a better share of Nollywood’s dividends.
Apparently, this hasn’t been the case as some seasoned actors have nothing to show for all their years in the field.
In this light, Iginla touched on the recent issue of Bruno Iwuoha, a seasoned Nollywood actor who has had to beg for financial support from well-meaning Nigerians but got nothing in return.
The pastor said he gave out a 2014 model Sienna car to the actor owing to his health challenge, as a bit of support.
He also reportedly sent the actor the sum of N200, 000, in addition, to help with maintaining the vehicle.

“I respect grey hair. It is an honour to have something and being able to give it,” the pastor added.
In response, Iwuoha reached out to the clergy in words of praise and gratitude for the benevolence.
