Abba Moro, the immediate past minister of Interior, has come under heavy attack following his inciting statement against Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state.
Speaking in a recent interview, Abba Moro said that Benue state was still waiting for the much-publicized change, adding that Ortom did not have what it takes to rule the state, Daily Post reports.

Moro, a native of Okpokwu LGA of the state, said: “For instance, you know that 100 days is a celebrated period in governance in Nigeria. If you look at what is happening in Benue state now, the signs are very ominous that we are in for the worst of times. In spite of the much touted bailout and loans that the Benue state government under Dr. Samuel Ortom has taken to pay salaries, salaries are not paid.
“The governor had ordered that two months salaries be paid recently but as I’m talking to you, I am on good authority that no salary has been paid. I think that for a government that is anchored on change, a government that is headed by somebody who says he is going to run the government by the fear of God, these steps are missteps.”

However, in a swift response to Moro’s claims, Comrade Daniel Onjeh, the All Progressives Congress senatorial candidate at the last national assembly election in Benue Zone C urged the ex-minister to stop seeking for attention and cheap publicity.
According to Onjeh, Moro should explain how about 18 job seekers died and many injured during a nationwide recruitment test conducted by the Nigeria Immigration Service last year under his management.

Onjeh said: “People like Moro don’t have right to criticize anybody in Nigerian. Instead of thinking how to explain the ‘death-for-job’ Immigration recruitment exercise he poorly and fraudulently conducted, which led to the death of well-meaning Nigerians, he’s there criticizing a siting governor. It is very unfortunate.
“It is obvious that Moro and his PDP members are living in the fears of the shadow of their past.
“If his years as a federal minister could not affect his community positively, then he should shut up and leak the wounds of their defeat in the just concluded election.”
However, Moro allegations against Governor Ortom comes just weeks after former governor
Suswam said: “The present government took loans to pay salaries but till date, the sole purpose of the loans has not been achieved. Yet, fictitious figures has been released to justify the over bloated wage bill as previously published.”
