Senate President Bukola Saraki of the All Progressives Congress has urged the Kwara Election Tribunal to block the case against him by Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman in the March 28, National Assembly election.

According to Yusuf Ali (SAN), Saraki’s counsel, the Election tribunal should ignore the petition based on elements of an alleged faulty forensic report presented by the PDP candidate, The Nation report.
Abdulrasaq had presented filed a petition against Saraki at the tribunal, presenting a forensic report as evidence against the Senate president.

It was gathered that four volumes of the report of the forensic analysis carried on electoral materials used in four local governments in Kwara Central were marked as “Exhibits P4”.
However, reacting to the Saraki’s petition, Ali stated that the forensic report was dated March 28, 2014, a year before the election poll was conducted.

Speaking to the three-man tribunal, led by Justice Joshua Majebi, chairman of the tribunal, Ali said: “The date shows the document was prepared in anticipation of the election.”
Dissatisfied about the outcome of the March 28 election, Abdulrasaq had approached the Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Ilorin to seek redress.
He had alleged that Saraki’s victory in the  elections was fabricated, stating categorically that he had the majority votes and should be declared winner of the Kwara Central Senatorial District.
