Ophorigbala health centre taken over by weed.
Ophorigbala is located in Ugheli South Local Government Area of Delta
state. The village shares a boundary with Burutu local government area
on a channel of the River Niger, 20 miles (32 km) upstream from the
Bight of Benin.
After series of communal efforts to cite a new health centre had failed, the villagers are worried about the danger and health implication of not having a functioning and well-equipped health centre in the community.
The only health centre in the community has been taken over by weed and flood. The clinic was locked when this medium visited the community. An indication that no medical personnel has resumed for duty in recent times.

The villagers explained that the medical personnel abandoned duty posts due to bad access roads.
Aside the facts that the whole floor was dusty and littered with animal feces, expired drugs were seen all around the building.
It was observed that few of the beds left in the building had gone bad. According to the villagers, the only health centre in the community had been abandoned for years.

As a result, the villagers agitated for a new health centre but the project has since been left at the foundation level.

Narrating his ordeal, one of the villagers told Naij.com that his two-month-old baby has been sick but cannot seek medical attention due to lack of medical personnel and access road.
”I’m really in pains right now because my two-month-old baby is sick and can’t just take him to the hospital because it will be risky exposing the baby to the rigour of the bad access road to other villages where there are medical personnel or better hospital facilities’’ he lamented.
This medium learnt children die on regular basis as a result of these anomalies. The villagers, most especially children are exposed to the unfriendly weather condition and environmental hazards.
The leadership of the community is however hoping that succor would come form the Delta state government and the federal government to avoid impeding danger.
