AEMA Empowers and Support Thousands of Students in Kuje Govt Secondary School. Abuja

 

African Economic Merit Awards empowers Government Secondary School, Kuje. Abuja. AEMA is aimed at awarding for excellence. Rewarding successful African entrepreneurs, unrecognised and recognized impact making NGOs.

The organisation is into community development and sustainability  in Agriculture , Education, Health and Technology initiative.  Speaking at the event was the President of AEMA, McEva Temofe,  Secretary General, Delita Whitfield and Head, Legal Services, Kayode Oluwatuyi.

Government Secondary school Kuje was given school items. Some students were assured of their WAEC and NECO fees being paid by the organisation. They were inspired by topics: (a) who is your mentor  ( b) overcoming peer pressure  (c) importance of secondary education.

The sensitization programme which was held in three categories captured areas like “Mentorship, Overcoming Peer Pressure and Importance of Secondary School Education”.

The President of AEMA, who is also a Principal Consultant, McEva Temofe, while handling the “Mentorship” class, exposed the students on the benefits and rudiments of having a good mentor, of which the students were given opportunity to pencil down their names and mentors they admired.

He said, “This programme from assessment was a huge success, we have impacted lives, more fulfilling is that we were able to meet the needs of physically challenge students.” McEva Temofe said.

Kayode Oluwatuyi the Legal Adviser of AEMA who handled the “Importance of Secondary School Education” said “We highlighted the importance of secondary school which is an intermediary between Primary and Tertiary Institution of which we shared our life experiences and how we overcame the huddles of youthful age.

“We taught the student some entrepreneurial skills which they can engage on their private time, we listened to some of their challenges, provided answers to their questions and data’s of the students were captured on areas where we can partner with them beyond classroom” Oluwatoyi said.

One of the beneficiaries Odo Jude a Senior Secondary School, SS3 student who is also the Head Boy of the school  said “I will like to say a very big  thank you to the organizers of this programme, is an eye opener, we were taught the need for good mentorship, how to overcome peer pressures  among several others.

“I wish the programme continues tomorrow the students are happy and they have learnt a lot.

The Head Girl of the school, Aliyu Fatima said, “They have improve my life and that of the rest students in this school; we want this to be held regularly, it will serve as a reminder.

The Vice Principal of the school who stood in for the principal, Mohammed Useni said, “Am impress, I was not expecting something like this, I taught it was just talking to the students, but it went beyond that.

“In fact some of the student’s troop into my office expressing joy over what they have learnt, it was really a great experience” the Principal said.

He however, use the medium to call on well to do men and women in the society to come up with diverse support programme to assist children in schools most especially the less privilege.

AEMA at the end of sensitization workshop gave out pen and exercise books to students who performed extremely well in questions and answers segment, while light refreshment was made available to thousands of them.

The AEMA Project according to the President which is just three month old covers 17 African countries, such as Cameroon, Kenya, Ghana, South-Africa, Benin Republic, and Gambia among several others
