For allegedly stealing a tricycle, 23-year-old Ebenezer Babatunde was on Thursday brought before a Magistrates’ Court in Sango-Ota, Ogun.
Babatunde, who lives at No. 26, Akinwande St., Iyana-Ilogbo, Ota, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.
The accused, the prosecutor, Sgt. Dominic Tsav, said committed the offences with others still at large on Sept. 21, 2016 at Gainyu Street, Ejigun, Itele Awori.
According to him, the accused and his accomplices conspired to steal a tricycle valued at N520,000, property of the complainant,Oriyomi Kayode.
The offences contravened Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Senior Magistrate, Mrs Y. S. Alebiosu, granted bail to the accused in the sun of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said the sureties, who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction, should be gainfully employed.
“The sureties should swear to an affidavit of means and produce evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.”
Further hearing in the case has been adjourned to April 3.
