Bez Idakula, one of Nigeria's finest singers and songwriters talks about his "Gbagyi Child" album, experiences he took away from the Bez live concerts held in Lagos and Abuja.
He
describes the show as a success given the feedback from those that
attended, despite the technical glitches that threatened the show from
happening.
"A lot of people keep saying that
was the best experience they've had for any concert in Nigeria, and even
for the whole Christmas season," the singer says about the Bez live Lagos concert held on Christmas Eve of 2016.
About the Abuja Bez live concert that held in 2017, Bez said that was
even bigger than Lagos in terms of the number of fans that came out, and
was more hitch-free.
Speaking
on his sophomore album "Gbagyi Child", Bez explains the album was
written with the mind to birth a Bez live festival. He also talks about
drawing inspirations for the album from going back to his hometown and
gathering the experiences growing up as a child into an adult, and his
career, and putting them into the music, making it genuine.
"One
thing I did was go back to my village, pull from the experiences had
when I was growing up running from the masquerades, playing by the river
and stuff like that and putting all that true authentic African stories
into the music, those were the experiences that really helped to write
the music apart from love and lust," Bez explained.
The 'You suppose know' crooner also talked on working with Simi, Yemi Alade and the rest of his team.
On whether he feels
accomplished already in his career, Bez says he feels accomplished,
looking how far he has come but still feels like he's just starting,
especially with the Bez live moment.
"So I feel accomplished but I feel like there's still so much more to do, so much more," he remarks.
The
gifted musician also adds that he's already working on another album,
and if everything goes right with the people he's working with, there
would be another album out this year 2017.
