The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has recovered about $50 million from a home in Lagos State.
The EFCC made the discovery on Wednesday, April 12, after being tipped off by a whistle blower.
Here are five things you should know about the recovered cash:
- The money is in various currencies; $43 million, £27,000 and N23 million.
- The cash was found hidden in fire-proof safes.
- It was found in a flat on Gerrard Road, Ikoyi.
- The flat allegedly belongs to a former Managing Director of theNigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue.
- The building, which houses the flat, allegedly belongs to formerPeoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Adamu Muazu.
Nnamdi-Ogbue also made headlines in 2016 when it was alleged that her chef stole $6 million worth of cash and jewelry from her.
