Former Chelsea defender Celestine Babayaro has heaped praises on Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi comparing the Nigerian with Premier League great Yaya Toure.
Ndidi has shown brightly for Leicester City since the reigning Premier League champions signed him in January.
He scored his first Premier League goal for Leicester City in their 2-0 win over Stoke City on Saturday, April 1 and started his 10th consecutive league games in their 2-0 win over Sunderland on Tuesday.
Speaking on the youngster, former Super Eagles left-back Babayaro believes Ndidi is some ways better than N’golo Kante who he came to replace at Leicester.
“There’s a large difference in the way he (Ndidi) plays and that of Kante, probably similarities in terms of winning duels,” Babayaro told Own Goal Nigeria.
“But aerially Ndidi is better and a little bit more assured in position and very good at trying his luck from range.
“He is a bit like Patrick Vieira but not so much, but he looks every inch like Toure in his prime, leggy, strong and shoots a lot.Toure was like that while at Monaco.
“Ndidi
has improved a lot in the last few months. His ability on and off the
ball has greatly improved in England. Most people doubted him but I
never did.”
Babayaro was in London over the weekend and hosted by his former club, Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
