Court orders remand of 2 men over alleged armed robbery

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Victoria Bob-Manuel, ordered that the defendants be remanded at Olokuta Prison, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and adjourned the case until June 14.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Martins Olowofeso, told the court that the defendants and others at large, armed with guns and other offensive weapons, attacked and robbed one Mr Akintade Rotimi.
The prosecutor said that they stole three cell phones valued at N85,00, N200,000 cash, ATM card among other items, belonging to one Akinmutimi Sunday.
He said that the defendants committed the offences on April 8, 2017, at about 1:00 a.m. at No. 44 Adeyemi St., Ojimola area, Idanre in Ondo State.
According to him, the offences contravened the provisions of the Robbery and Firearm (Special Provision) Act, Cap RII Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
