The Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has reportedly released his pay slip for the month of April 2017.
The outspoken monarch has been under investigation for allegedly misappropriating royal finances.
Reports say he was accused of spending N6b ($19 million, 17 million euros) of palace funds on luxury cars, chartered flights, phone and internet bills as well as other personal expenses.
The treasurer of the emirate, Mahe Bashir Wali however denied the allegations saying , "The emirate council has never bought a Rolls Royce for the emir.
Sources say the Kano state government approves the emir’s spending, adding that he also pays for his tickets.
According to DTD, a member of the Kano Emirate Council, Mallam Magaji Galadima, who allegedly displayed the payslip, debunked the allegations of corruption against the Emir.
Galadima said “Dear people of God, Pls see the pay-slip of HRH Sarkin Kano, it is N1,246,875.00 net, as against the cheekily reported 12 million Naira monthly by some online publications. The Emir of Kano has recently been at loggerheads with some Northern elites, who he says are backward.
Sanusi has also been in the fore-front of girl-child education and woman empowerment.
