The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi has described the probe panel set up by Governor Ayo Fayose as illegal.

Fayose had earlier inaugurated a panel to probe Fayemi for allegedly misappropriating Ekiti state funds when he served as Governor.

The Ekiti state House of Assembly passed a resolution on May 10, 2017, calling for the former Governor’s probe.
Speaking to Channels TV, Fayemi said Fayose should channel his energy towards providing good governance and stop pursuing a vendetta.
According to a statement signed by his media spokesman, Yinka Oyebody, his Special Assistant on Media, the former Governor said “The Governor and members of the panel are reminded that the two cases involving the House of Assembly, its leadership and top officials of the present administration are still pending in an Abuja High Court and a Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti, thus making it an act of illegality for another panel to look into the matter.
“The governor is advised to concentrate on the serious task of governance and refrain from shadow chasing which the current pursuit of personal vendetta through a kangaroo committee clearly represents.”
Dr. Kayode Fayemi served as the Governor of Ekiti state from October 15, 2010  to October 15, 2014.
