The Kogi State Police Command has paraded one Garuba Abdullahi, a commercial bus driver for allegedly stabbing his wife to death during an argument over housekeeping money.
The
30-year-old Abdullahi who was among 13 suspects paraded at the state
Command Headquarters in Lokoja by the state Deputy Commissioner of
Police, DCP Yahaya Abubakar, reportedly stabbed his wife, Falilat Saka, to death after she demanded money to buy food stuff in the house.
It
was learned that Falilat had requested for the sum of N4,000 but
Abdullahi gave her N2,000, promising to give her the balance when he got
back from work but the woman insisted that he must give her what she
demanded for and that led to the deadly fight where he stabbed her to
death in a fit of anger.
Abdullahi, a
native of Ihima in Okehi Local Government Area of the state, claimed
that in the 15 years he had been married to his wife, they had been
having arguments over money, with his wife always complaining whenever
he gave her money to buy food.
“On the particular day, she requested for N4,000 but I only managed to give her N 2,000 which did not go down well with her.
This led to arguments and in the process, I stabbed her and she died from the injury sustained in her neck region,” Abdullahi told journalists when he was paraded.
DCP
Abubakar said that on May 30, 2017, detectives from the Homicide
section of Okehi Police Division had arrested Abdullahi for the murder
of his wife during a quarrel over money.
