Agent Victor Moses steps in to convince striker to play for Nigeria

Born and raised in London, Abraham who has played for England at several youth levels is eligible to play for Nigeria, the country of his parents.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have been making moves to lure the striker to play for Nigeria instead of the Three Lions of  England. 

Moses called in a meeting between the NFF and the striker to further convince him to switch his allegiance to Nigeria.

Moses himself has been a success since switching his allegiance to Nigeria after playing for England’s U-16 to U-21 sides.

As a Nigeria international, the Chelsea wing-back has won the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title and played in one FIFA World Cup finals.

NFF president Amaju Pinnick who is close friends with Abraham's father is confident that the 19-year-old Abraham will make the switch.

“I had a very honest and productive discussion with Tammy and his father last week,” Pinnick is quoted to say by Daily Mail.

“It's been a long process but I can tell you authoritatively that he has agreed to play for Nigeria and not England. He and his parents have started the necessary documents to effect the switch.

“Clearly he understands he stands a better chance playing for the Super Eagles. With his talent he has the ability to fight for a place in the Nigeria squad, by God's grace we make it to Russia, then he would contest for a chance to represent his fatherland.”

Abraham scored 23 goals for Bristol City where he spent a loan stint last season. This season, he is on another loan move away from Chelsea, this time at Premier League side Swansea where he has netted once already.

The NFF under Pinnick have in recent times intensified efforts to get players of Nigerian descent to play for the Super Eagles.

Alex Iwobi of Arsenal made his official debut for Nigeria in 2016 after playing for the England U-16, 17 and 18.

Chelsea right-back Ola Aina who has played for England at youth level, was in the Super Eagles squad for their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon and has gotten his FIFA clarification to play for the Nigeria.
