The 29-year-old forward opened up that Wenger did all he could to keep him at Arsenal, and told him that he was the best player in the team.
In an interview with Chilevision TV, Sanchez claimed he and Wenger parted ways on good terms after his move to rivals United.
“No Chilean had played here. Arsene understood it at last, we ended up on good terms, he congratulated me and there was no problem,” Sanchez said.
Speaking about Wenger, Sanchez revealed that he had a close relationship with his former Manager.
He said, “He was very fond of me and he didn't want to let me go, He told me: "I want you to sign here because you are the best player in the team."
Sanchez however revealed that he choose not sign an extension at Arsenal as he wanted to progress as a player.
He said, "I wanted to continue growing as a player, more so as a Chilean, because it's difficult to get to Man United."
The Chile International also revealed that he is yet to get over his country failing to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, after a 3-0 loss to Brazil in the final qualification game.
He revealed that after the defeat he came back to England to be with his dogs and no one else.
“After the match against Brazil I went to London. I wanted to be alone with my dogs, no-one else.”
Sanchez and his Manchester United teammates are back in action when they take on Brighton &Hove Albion in a quarter final FA Cup clash on Saturday, March 17.
