The acclaimed movie producer Kunle Afolayan has bounced back from the issues surrounding the piracy of his last work, October 1. He is currently directing a new movie, and explains how much he is driven by passion despite the odds. The new movie, The CEO, has locations in Nigeria, Paris, Kenya and Morocco.

Speaking to The Nation, Afolayan said he is consumed by a dream and will not rest until it is actualized. He also said the war on piracy can only be won by the government.

I hope they can review and implement the law that bans copyright, though it is weak,” he told The Nation. “There is no point having a law that you cannot enforce.”
He highlighted his busy schedule, saying his family understands the requirements of his job especially as they are a key reason he is always busy.
He said: “They know what I am doing is not just for me, but for them too. And every time I am not filming, I am always home with my children. So they don’t feel it when I am not even around. Times have changed, we talk every time; there is Skype where we can see each other.”
Afolayan is a respected producer in the industry who stated that his passion is what drives him.

In the face of odds like piracy and huge capital requirements, he said he is not into film making for money
He also added that he got “part of the money for this project from the Bank of Industry”.
“I mean, who would go to the bank to get such a huge amount of money and is not even sure how you are going to sell the movie? That covers like just 30% of the budget of the film, but, really, film is just my life. Come rain, come sunshine, as long as I am alive, I will keep making films,” he said.
Kunle Afolayan is an actor and seasoned movie director known for The Figurine, October 1 and Phone Swap. The Figurine won in five categories at the 2010 Africa Movie Academy Awards.
