The popped the question to Ashley Liai, his girlfriend and dance partner, midway through a dance performance the pair was delivering  on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 – which also happens to be their anniversary!
In the video which already has almost 450K Youtube views and more on Twitter at the time of this story, the couple are dancing to John Legend's "You & I (Nobody in the World)," with a crowd watching on from the sidelines.

At 4:07, Phil drops on one knee to Ashley's most pleasant surprise and the room erupts in wild cheers.
Mashable reports that the two met eight years ago in Miami, when Ashley signed up for Phil's hip-hop class and three years later they moved to Los Angeles to pursue their dancing careers.
Ashley tells Mashable that Phil unexpectedly proposed on their anniversary.
"All I knew is that we were doing a couples' class on our anniversary. I had no idea the man of my dreams would ask me to be his forever.

“We met in class so it's just so perfect that he asked me to be his future wife in the same setting. This moment was truly unforgettable for the both of us. I'm still on cloud 9."
Shortly after the engagement, Phil takes to Instagram and shares a photo of the engagement ring on Ashley's finger, captioning the photo:
"She said yes y'all!"

 He tells Mashable, "My desire with choosing this way of proposing to my girlfriend was trying to consolidate happiness.
I gathered all the things I loved to create the perfect environment for this huge step in our relationship."
Just imagine how lit their first dance at the wedding ceremony will be!
