The air hostess, whose short video was ladened with racist comments on Nigeria passengers that board the British Airways has been sacked, MailOnline reports.
The stewardess, whose name was given as Joanne Wickenden,
was fired from the top rated airline after she was found guilty of the
allegations levelled against her by the management after her video
surfaced on Snapchat.
It was
further reported that the 23-year-old Wickenden's appointment with the
airline was terminated after a two-hour meeting with her bosses in a
panel set up by the airline's management.
In a statement on Tuesday, the airline said, “She
no longer works for British Airways. We expect the utmost
professionalism from our staff when they are representing British
Airways.”
However the former air hostess, who wants to be an actress, reportedly told friends, “I am not a racist, the video was just a joke.”
She told MailOnline, “I
have been set up by another BA employee. They were encouraging me,
egging me on to say things. They were recording me and sent it around to
our friends. I don’t want to fly anymore.’
Wickenden friend said the unnamed employee wanted Wickenden to “impersonate what goes on on the flight.”
Wickenden
sparked outrage after recording the racist clip in her BA uniform
before flying from London Heathrow to Abuja on Friday.
